The Advanced Institute of Engineering Science for Intelligent Manufacturing at Guangzhou University invites applications for the faculty positions at the levels of Professor / Associate Professor / Assistant Professor (Lecturers) in the fields of applied mathematics, soft matter physics and systems rheology, systems biology and medical engineering, high performance computational engineering for complex processing, industrial Internet-of-Things, artificial intelligence and big data analytics for manufacturing system, robotics engineering, systems engineering for intelligent manufacturing, visual-augmented-extended reality technology.
Scientific Environment
Guangzhou University provides excellent working conditions in a lively scientific community, embedded in the vibrant research environment of Guangzhou Higher Education Mega-Centre where the “Tianhe-2 (WilkyWay-2)” -- six times ranked the world fastest supercomputer is housed. The newly established Advanced Institute of Engineering Science for Intelligent Manufacturing is sponsored by the Government of Guangzhou Metropolis with an investment of at least 100M US$ in the next five years. Its missions are: 1) to facilitate interdisciplinary research and original innovation with focusing on intelligent manufacturing; 2) to accelerate industrial transformation in the pan-pearl-river delta region by developing a paradigm of “China Manufacturing 2025”; 3) to train young talents for development of future manufacturing sector; 4) to act as an international hub for innovation collaboration along “the Belt and Road” and beyond.
Qualifications and Key Responsibilities
Applicants should have an outstanding university degree and a relevant PhD degree, an excellent scholarly record demonstrating potential for research and teaching excellence. They will perform academic and professional service duties associated with the University.
Senior positions are available for scholars of international stature seeking to build substantial interdisciplinary research and teaching programs, who have demonstrated an outstanding academic record and an internationally recognized research program.
Mid-career candidates must be established leaders in their field; exhibit strong records of publication, funded research and teaching; and have experience in interdisciplinary collaborations.
Applicants for Assistant Professor (or Lecturer) should normally have at least two years post-doctoral experience, excellent academic credentials, strong research plans, and an outstanding ability to teach effectively.
Our Offer
Based on the best international standards and transparent performance criteria, Guangzhou University offers a merit-based academic career option for tenure-track faculty to Full Professor. Appointments for Assistant Professor (or Lecturer) and Associate Professor will normally have up to a six-year probation period and may later lead to tenure-track appointment subject to satisfactory performance.
Guangzhou University offers successful candidates a start-up research fund and performance-based salary along with additional social benefits, which will be commensurate with qualifications and career achievements, and competitive with international norms. E.g. the annual salary range for a new Assistant Professor (or Lecturer) at the beginning of academic career is equivalent to US$34000 – US$46000 (£28000 – £37000). The University also gives assistance for relocation and integration of their partners and accompanying family members.
